Practice Philosophy

My name is Debbie Durgin. I am the Office Manager at the Animal Care Center of Floyd. My husband Jim and I have 9 dogs and 1 cat. We also foster dogs for Wolf Spirit Sled Dog Rescue which I am vice president of. I have worked with the Floyd County Humane Society for 8 years fostering, transporting and working with other rescue groups to find homes for Floyd Co animals. I have been employed at the Animal Care Center for many years. I really enjoy working with the clients and their pets.

I grew up in New Hampshire, always surrounded by animals. Over the years, my family had the pleasure of having dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, horses and a miniature donkey. From an early age, I knew that animals were my passion. I rode and cared for horses for many years, and as soon as I was able, began working at a local feline feline rescue and animal hospital. My husband and I moved to Floyd in 2016 to be closer to his family, we have never looked back, and absolutely love it here. We currently have four dogs, two cats, chickens, and ducks. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members!

Also known as Jessi, is a 2017 graduate of Hollins University, where she got a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. While attending Hollins, she was able to intern at three different veterinary clinics both inside and outside the New River Valley area. Through these internships she gained valuable information regarding how veterinary clinics run on a daily basis, as well as important hands-on experience. In her free time, Jessi enjoys reading and cuddling on the couch with her Chihuahua, Beanie, and cat Little Girl to watch a movie.

I live in good ole' Floyd County with my partner Jason Smith. We've recently come to find out that we will be having a new life joining in on our adventure! I have always been rather artsy and growing up with an artist/grandmother I feel as if it's genetic. Going to local shows, and enjoying good cuisine has always been a pleasure of mine. I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially when the weather is warm! I've become very fond of kayaking here and there's nothing better than a nice day at On The Water! Also, I don't mind a nice day hike for a satisfying view, or a random trip to nowhere in particular! Wouldn't mind bumping into an antique store along the way.

Hi! I am a Kennel Assistant at the Animal Care Center of Floyd. I have been an animal lover my entire life, which has resulted in my ownership of three dogs, one cat and a horse, all of which have been rescues and strays. I am currently attending Floyd County High School and will be graduating in 2018. After high school, I plan to attend college with hopes of becoming an equine veterinarian. Outside of work and school, I compete in Three Day Eventing with my feisty, little mare.
